Each year, all over the world, people especially women celebrate International Women’s Day. This day is celebrated on March 8. In the beginning of 1900s, a movement was initiated for the rights of women in the U.S. As a result of this movement, women’s all over the world were actually given certain rights. Like earlier, they had no right to vote. After this movement, women were granted having the right to vote.
In 1910, a suggestion by the International Socialist Woman’s Conference was made to hold women’s day each year. However, on March 8, 1917, women in Soviet Union were actually given suffrage and after that the day was celebrated as a national Holiday. The event has become an annual thing. The U.S. adopted this concept in 1975 after which International Women’s day has been an important event.
