Horse racing is a sporting competition of speed where the participants compete to reach a specific point within the shortest and quickest time. This is no different when it comes to the best of the best at Ascot. This is the perfect place for fashion, luxury, sports and food. The event is a big hit with both bookies and lovers of fashion as well as the rich and famous who often attend Ascot.
The Royal Racecourse was founded in 1711 by Queen Anne. The first ever race to take place on the racecourse was called Her Majesty’s Plate, held on the 11th of August 1711. The race involved seven horses, each weighing no more than 76 kg. The first race was made up of four different heats, each being four miles in length. The racecourse has undertaken a redevelopment of £185 million and was therefore closed for 20 months to better the stands and viewpoints for the attendees. This was funded by the Allied Irish Bank.
This year’s QIPCO British Championships Day will be the sixth of its kind in this year alone and is also the finale for the European Flat racing season – which runs from April to October.
