News Update: DBS Update Service If you are currently renewing your taxi or PHV driver license, you should sign up for the DBS Update Service. This service allows us to keep our DBS certificate up to date and is a mandatory requirement from 26 February 2024. Please see TPH Notice 07/23 for further information.

Paddington Square - Praed Street Highway Improvement Works As part of the Paddington Square development, Westminster City Council is carrying out work at this location, including installing new pedestrian crossings, widening footways, and carriageway resurfacing. Works are planned to start on Monday 22 January until May 2024. For further details, visit the Westminster City Council website.
Events Bring Me The Horizon Saturday 20 January, The O2, Peninsula Square Ashley McBryde Saturday 20 January, Eventim Apollo Giselle Saturday 20 January, London Coliseum The Play That Goes Wrong Saturday 20 January, Duchess Theatre Cirque du Soleil presents: Alegria - In a New Light Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 January, Royal Albert Hall ABBA Voyage Sunday 21 January, ABBA Arena Cassyette Sunday 21 January, The O2, Peninsula Square Because of these events, there may be increased demand for taxi and private hire services in these areas.
Demonstrations Central London From 13:30 until 17:00 on Sunday 21 January, a demonstration march will be taking place, starting on Langham Place and finishing at Whitehall Court. Large crowds are expected.
Road Updates Blackwall Tunnel southbound closures Blackwall Tunnel will be closed to southbound traffic, through to the junction with Blackwall Lane, on the below dates.
These works are needed to complete the new road layout, as part of the Silvertown Tunnel construction.
They will also need a closure between 00:01 on Saturday 27 January and 05:00 on Monday 29 January if there are any unforeseen issues.
Further southbound tunnel closures are expected during 2024. During these times, the tunnel will be open to northbound traffic, with sign-posted diversions in place.
To travel southbound, plan ahead, check before you travel, use alternative river crossings, and allow more time for your journey.
During these closures, the Woolwich Ferry will run a service every 15-20 minutes between 08:00 and 19:00 to help you cross the river. The Congestion Charging zone will be in operation as normal.
Neathouse Place Crane Operations On Sundays only, from Sunday 21 January until Sunday 4 February, there will be a series of crane operations on Neathouse Place. This operation should not impact taxis feeding from Vauxhall Bridge Road onto Wilton Road.
Praed Street Works From Monday 22 January until May 2024, works will be taking place on Praed Street. Praed Street will be narrowed to a single lane for traffic, under temporary traffic signal control. The footpath will be closed with a pedestrian diversion in place.
Charing Cross Road Until Saturday 13 April, Charing Cross Road will be closed northbound from Duncannon Street to William IV Street for gas main works. A diversion route will be in place between Duncannon Street and Charing Cross Road.
A406 GLA Road (Staples Corner Roundabout) Closure Until Wednesday 10 April, every night from 21:00 until 05:00 the following morning, Staples Corner Roundabout will be closed between the southbound on-slip connecting Staples Corner Roundabout with A5 Edgware Road, and the southbound off-slip connecting A5 Edgware Road with Staples Corner Roundabout. During these times, sign-posted diversions will be in place.
Rank Suspensions The following ranks will be out of service:
- 5671 Whitcomb Street, until 17:00 on Monday 22 January. Whole rank to be suspended for pedestrian footway during utility works.
- 6005 Berkeley Street (Novikov), from 06:00 on Saturday 20 until 22:00 on Sunday 21 January. Whole rank to be suspended for a crane operation. There will be a road closure in place.
- 5596 Suffolk Place, from 07:00 on Saturday 20 January until 19:00 on Tuesday 3 September 2024. Whole rank to be suspended for a crane operation for Haymarket Hotel. There will be a full road closure in place.
- 4761 Hamilton Place (Intercontinental Hotel), from 08:00 until 16:00 on Monday 22 January. Whole rank to be suspended at the request of the Metropolitan Police.
- 4762 Hamilton Place (Third portion of Hilton Hotel), from 08:00 until 16:00 on Monday 22 January. Whole rank to be suspended at the request of the Metropolitan Police.
- 4478 Upper Berkeley Street/Montagu Street (Nobu Hotel), from 21:00 on Tuesday 23 until 06:00 on Wednesday 24 January. Whole rank to be suspended for the annual Britain's Got Talent series.
- 6192 Brompton Road (Harrods), from 22:00 on Wednesday 24 January until Thursday 1 February. Whole rank to be suspended between the hours of 22:00 and 05:00 nightly for a crane operation for maintenance to the Harrods building.
- 5600 Berkeley Square (Berkeley Square House), from 07:00 on Thursday 25 January until Saturday 3 February. Whole rank to be suspended for footway works.
- 5660 Argyll Street, from 10:00 on Thursday 25 until 23:00 on Friday 26 January. Whole rank to be suspended for the annual Britain's Got Talent series. There will be a road closure in place.
